YouTube’s Livestream shopping events
From the 15th to the 22nd of November, YouTube is hosting a series of live-stream shopping events for the holiday season. Influencers and celebrities will host the event, and users will be able to shop directly in the app while interacting with the host. YouTube will offer exclusive discounts and provide more intimate interaction between influencers and viewers, similar to other platforms launching live-stream shopping events.
Among the live stream hosts are Gordon Ramsey, the Merrell Twins, Donut Media, Patrick Starrr, Jackie Aina, Manny MUA, and MrBeast.
YouTube product designer Wendy Yang shared some insights from a recent study done with Publicis and TalkShoppe, “89% of viewers agree that YouTube creators give recommendations they can trust, and 87% of people say they get the highest quality information about products when shopping or browsing on YouTube.”
Instagram Badges Expanded
Instagram is expanding its badge program to all eligible creators in the United States, which means creators must be 18 or over, live in the U.S., and have a Creator or Business account with 10,000 followers. Users can purchase heart icons during live streams, showing the creator that they have supported them financially. One, two, or three hearts can be purchased, with prices ranging from $1 to $5. In another effort to keep users engaged and on Instagram, Instagram is introducing a new feature that rewards creators for staying on the platform and creating high-quality content.
Instagram Carousel Editing
The option to delete specific posts within a carousel post has long been requested by Instagram users and creators. Users will be able to edit posts now by clicking the three-dot menu and selecting the delete icon on the image or video they wish to remove from the carousel. By adding this option, you are better able to control the content and avoid having to delete the entire post and re-upload it. Since carousels have become the most popular post format on the app, more control was essential.
Twitter Adding Livestream Commerce Too?
In collaboration with Walmart and Jason Derulo, Twitter is the latest social media platform to introduce Livestream commerce. The event will take place on November 28th and will be hosted by Derulo, users will be able to shop items from Walmart’s catalog of products. The event is just one more step towards Twitter becoming a fully-fledged E-commerce platform.
